Trains, buses and other options
Prefer to sit back? Dapoli is well connected by public and private transport.
By train (Konkan Railway)
Nearest station: Dapoli has no railway station. The closest is Khed Railway Station (KHED).
The route: Take any Konkan Railway train from Mumbai (CSMT/Panvel) or Pune towards Ratnagiri or Goa — popular options like the Mandovi Express and Konkan Kanya Express stop at Khed.
Onward journey: Khed is 40 km from Dapoli. MSRTC buses, shared jeeps and auto-rickshaws wait outside the station and get you to Dapoli in about an hour.
By bus (MSRTC & private sleepers)
From Mumbai: Direct state transport buses leave daily from Dadar, Borivali, Thane and Panvel. Private sleeper buses also run overnight.
From Pune: Direct MSRTC buses leave regularly from Swargate and Wakad, via the Mahabaleshwar–Poladpur route or Tamhini Ghat.
Pro travel tips for the journey
Start early: Leave by 5:00 AM to beat city bottlenecks like Kalamboli junction in Mumbai or Chandani Chowk in Pune — and arrive in time for a Konkani fish thali lunch.
Fuel and food: NH 66 has plenty of food malls and fuel pumps, but the mountain roads through Tamhini Ghat and Mandangad have very few. Refuel and take breaks on the main highway.
Driving an EV?: Top up at the Tata Power 30 kW DC fast charger in Sakhaloli or the public chargers in Chandranagar before heading to remote beachfront stays.
EV charging stations on the way
Both routes have reliable charging. The rule of thumb: top up on the highway plains before climbing or descending the ghats, where heavy acceleration can drain batteries up to 1.5× faster. Check availability in the app before you go.
