Privacy policy

Dapoli.info is an independent travel guide to Dapoli and the Konkan coast. We collect as little information as possible. This page explains what is collected, why, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Dapoli.info (“we”, “us”) is operated by the owner of dapoli.info. You can reach us at hello@dapoli.info for anything related to this policy or your information.

What we collect

  • Nothing by default. You can read every page without creating an account or giving us any personal details.
  • Analytics, only if you accept. If you click “Accept analytics”, we use Google Analytics 4 to see how the site is used: pages visited, buttons and filters used, links such as “Directions”, language chosen, approximate location (city or country), and device and browser type. It sets cookies on your device. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
  • Messages you send us. The contact form does not store anything on our servers. It opens your own email app with a message addressed to hello@dapoli.info, and we receive your name, email, mobile number and message only if you send that email. We use it only to reply to you.
  • Saved on your device. Your language choice, your packing checklist ticks and your analytics choice are kept in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device and we cannot see them.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, pages requested and time) for security and reliability.

Services that receive your data when you use certain features

Some features load content from other companies. When they do, your browser connects to them and they receive technical data such as your IP address:

  • Open-Meteo supplies the live weather and sea conditions shown on the home and travel tips pages.
  • Google Maps shows the embedded maps. Google may set cookies and collect data when a map loads; see Google’s privacy policy.
  • WhatsApp opens when you tap “Share on WhatsApp”, under its own privacy policy.

How we use information

  • To understand which guides are useful and improve them.
  • To reply to messages you send us.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

Cookies and your choices

We only set analytics cookies after you accept. You can change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser. You can also block Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.

Sharing and international transfers

We do not sell your information. Analytics data is processed by Google, which may store it on servers outside India. Our hosting provider also processes technical logs. We share information with authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is kept for the shortest practical period and no longer than 14 months. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer you, and can be deleted on request.

Your rights

In line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@dapoli.info and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, you can raise a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

This site is meant for travellers planning trips and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
